To work with xenos usually means getting the utmost permission from one of the highest-ranking members of the Holy Ordos of the Emperor’s Inquisition. Even then, having such alien allies of convenience can easily slip into the depths of heresy.
Within the depths of Nyx, a small yet significant planet within the Pariah Nexus… If you work with xenos for the greater good, and no-one finds out… did it really happen?
The Order of the Triumvirate, an elite and unconventional convent of the Adepta Sororitas, was about to test the limits of such things. In this particular situation, it was best to block the Ordo Xenos on all frequencies for now.
It was Canoness Titania who spotted a gathering of Astra Militarum regiments – a staging ground, but for what? Sister Jeanne, the resident Saint Potentia, pointed out the obvious.
“The vault – of course. Look at the shape of this terrain a few clicks south. They’ve found the vault!”
“We are outnumbered and outgunned. What would you suggest?” Titania responded to the pious saint-in-the-making. “Are there any other Vault Seekers available?” Jeanne asked.
“There are not, Sister Jeanne,” Canoness Marika answered, walking into the tower control room with Canoness Roxanne in tow. “However, there is one gambit we can attempt.”
“I do love gambits,” Titania grinned. “Sister Artura has made contact with the Unrelenting Daybreak Cadre. It is within both our interests that the content of the vault does not fall into the wrong hands,” Roxanne explained.
Titania crossed her arms, “What’s to stop them from shooting us in the back with over-tuned fusion blasters?”
“Have faith, Sister Titania,” Jeanne said. “They spared our lives at the portal to Nyx. These Tau may be xeno heretics, but they are at least reasonable. Fire and honour, remember? Unlike the regiments currently
en route to the vault.”
“Are we really doing this? Allying with the Tau instead of our fellow men?” Roxanne asked. “I’d just like a temperature check on this insane situation.”
Marika folded her arms. “What happens in the Pariah Nexus, stays in the Pariah Nexus, Sisters. As for a temperature check… it’s burning as hot as cleansing promethium fire. Just the way we like it.”
Canoness Roxanne grabbed her thrice-blessed holy eviscerator. Canoness Marika grabbed her power sword and hand flamer. Canoness Titania ruffled her autumn feathered wings and grabbed her blessed
halberd. Saint Potentia Jeanne grabbed the holy blade of Benedicta. Saint Artura powered up her paragon
warsuit. Imagifier Lola lifted the flag depicting the founding of the Order of the Triumvirate.
Together, they led their sisters aboard the drop-church, singing songs of saints and the sweet release of martyrdom, should it come to it.
